Michael S. Joyner, MD, MBA, PhD is a fellowship-trained hand and microvascular surgeon specializing in the evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, nerves, tendons, and upper extremity. His clinical approach combines advanced surgical training, trauma experience, microsurgical principles, and a disciplined focus on restoring function.

Dr. Joyner earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., as a United States Army Health Professions Scholarship recipient. He completed his general surgery internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and served on active duty as a United States Army surgeon, where he developed a precise, mission-focused approach to patient care.

He completed postgraduate training in General Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as Chief General Surgery Resident at Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the nation’s busiest trauma centers. His experience at Grady provided extensive exposure to complex trauma, reconstructive surgery, reconstructive hand principles, and advanced surgical decision-making.

Dr. Joyner went on to complete fellowship training in hand surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, and later served as a visiting microsurgical scholar at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. This advanced training strengthened his experience in complex hand, nerve, tendon, and microsurgical conditions.

At the Boca Raton office, Dr. Joyner provides care for a wide range of hand and wrist conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tendon injuries, nerve compression, fractures, arthritis, lacerations, traumatic injuries, and reconstructive problems. His goal is to provide precise, thoughtful, and function-focused care that helps patients return to daily activity, work, and quality of life.
